Paul Barrett is the managing director of a family owned motor dealership group in Kent. The group was founded in 1902 by his great-grandfather as a cycle repair business and adding motor car sales & repairs in 1904. He is the fourth generation of the family to be involved.
Until April 2020 Paul was serving as the High Sheriff of Kent. He was awarded the Honorary Freedom of the City of Canterbury in January 2015 and in the same year was made an Honorary Fellow of Canterbury Christchurch University. Paul is a Kent Ambassador. He is actively involved with a number of local & countywide business organisations and is also a trustee of the Canterbury Cathedral Trust. At the 2019 Kent Excellence in Business Awards (KEiBA) Paul received the Outstanding Contribution to Business in Kent award.
Paul is an enthusiastic cyclist and founder member of the Canterbury Velo Club. In 2012 he was part of a group who cycled from Olympia in Greece to the Olympic Stadium in London to raise funds for Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex.
In 2019 New Year’s Honours List Paul was awarded the MBE for his services to fundraising and the community.
