Our patients are at the centre of what we do. There is nothing more heart-warming for our team than when a former patient gets in touch and wants to visit us. If you, or a family member, has been a patient of ours and would like to get in touch, we would love to hear from you. Some patients share their story to help raise awareness of our work.

It was the beginning of June 2019 and we were at a friend's house. I’m told I went inside to use the toilet. I must have missed a step as I came down and I fell from the top, ending up in a heap at the bottom. My head took most of the impact so I was knocked unconscious and had blood coming out of my ear.

I will be forever grateful to KSS for saving my daughter’s life. At the time of her accident though I certainly didn’t think that 28 years later I would be extending that gratitude and thanking them for saving my life too.

I was taking my youngest son, Harry (aged 10) to school in July 2018. It was like any other day. I was driving along the A2070 to Hamstreet in Kent, a road which is renowned for accidents, when a car veered into me. I didn’t have time to react.

Jack was walking with his girlfriend when he slipped and hit his head on the pavement. I got a call to say that Jack was injured and needed to go to the hospital. I wasn’t too worried.

I was visiting a close friend of mine in August 2020. I was heading back and had a head on collision with another car. It was combined speed of over 100mph. I would have lost a leg and could have died if it weren't for the team from KSS.

It was a lovely, sunny day; great conditions for paragliding, with light thermals building. I’ve been doing paragliding for 24 years. It’s the simplest form of aviation that exists; you fly using a fabric wing, which keeps its form by the air pressure going into it. I think everyone wants to fly, there’s still a bit of the ancestral bird in us.

I remember the day vividly. I had just returned from a business trip the night before and was working at home that day. Thank God, otherwise the outcome could have been very different.

Peter Icke sadly died in September 2020. His decision to become an organ donor helped to save three other lives, a true testament to the way Peter lived his life, doing as much as possible to help other people. This is a tribute to Peter, a man of many talents who had a terrific sense of humour, and who was highly respected by all who knew him.

I am a keen mountain biker and I regularly cycle in the South Downs National Park. I live in Eastbourne close to the foot of the Downs. On Saturday 6th June 2020 I set off early on my electric bike and headed for Friston Forest via the Long Man of Wilmington. This was my first ride on the electric bike and I decided to extend my ride over the Seven Sisters as I would not ordinarily do so on my manual bike. I was eager to get home soon as the weather was about to change.
