Our patients are at the centre of what we do. There is nothing more heart-warming for our team than when a former patient gets in touch and wants to visit us. If you, or a family member, has been a patient of ours and would like to get in touch, we would love to hear from you. Some patients share their story to help raise awareness of our work.

Our two-year-old son was saved by KSS in 2018. It was coincidentally just a month after we signed up to take part in their lottery scheme. We were at our local petrol station and my fiancé Michael joked as he got back in the car after registering, saying ‘I’ll probably never use the Air Ambulance but it’s a good cause so I thought I’d sign up anyway’.

I was heading down the Pevensey bypass and suddenly, I saw a black car coming straight towards me on my side of the road. It was overtaking, which a lot of cars do in that area because it’s a wide road. There was plenty of space, but suddenly the car clipped the one it was overtaking and came straight at me, hitting me head on. I heard the bang before I became unconscious.

It was Father’s Day, 2016. I was due to hop on a train up to London with my wife and two kids, to see the premier of ‘The Secret Life of Pets’. Our train wasn’t due for another hour, so thought I’d go out for a quick ride on my bike, whilst the family finished getting ready. I often wonder what he’s getting up to during the day and imagine him having fun, running around with his friends on the playground as children should. But to hear that he had fallen and didn’t just get up and brush it off made no sense. How could this be happening?

At around 8:30pm on a dark October evening, 14-year-old Joe Pelham was cycling at the junction of the A31 and the Coxbridge Roundabout in Farnham when he was hit by a car. Paramedics from SECAMB were the first to treat Joe, who had been pulled to the safety of the verge by his friend but had sustained very serious injuries.

I’d been taking part in a society golf day at Upchurch River Valley when I started to experience strange involuntary muscle spasms in my chest and arms. I remember going out to the patio and it was there that I collapsed. I didn’t realise at the time but I was suffering a sudden cardiac arrest.

Before coming to a halt, I hit two other cars, and it is a miracle that no major damage was caused to either of the vehicles or, more importantly, their passengers.
