Striving for Excellence

In what is proving to be a year like no other, Team KSS is delighted to have received the accolade of the Charity of the Year Award for charities with an income of more than £10 million at the Charity Times Awards. I would like to offer my heartfelt congratulations to all of the winners and finalists, and a tremendous thank you to Charity Times.

This award is testament to the hard work, passion and integrity of all members of Team KSS from our committed Board and our dedicated staff to our inspirational supporters and volunteers. Our approach at KSS is to always strive for excellence, supporting each other as one team, and ultimately being driven by our purpose of saving lives and enabling the best possible patient outcomes.

As has been demonstrated by the impact of the charity sector on both individuals and communities who have faced significant challenges arising from the Coronavirus pandemic, charities are intrinsic to the social fabric of our nation. It is our duty as those working within the charity sector to continue to push boundaries, aspire for excellence, make a greater impact and support our beneficiaries in the best ways possible to ensure that our communities can trust in our ability to deliver for them in what we expect to be extremely challenging times that lie ahead.

What makes charities operate at their very best and maximise their effectiveness and their impact? I suggest it is a simple formula of being driven by our purpose, led by our values, and centred on those that we care for. This enables a coordinated, compassionate, and efficient response to our beneficiaries, ensuring we react and adapt to their changing needs and provide a service which creates the greatest impact. This is simply not possible without collaboration within our sector, with statutory services, with the private sector and with our supporters who desire to make a difference. Within the prospect of diminishing resources, we need to come together to think differently and ensure the sustainability and prosperity of the charity sector. We must evolve, innovate, inspire and work together to ensure those who need our support receive our support wherever and whenever needed.

Aspiring for excellence is a necessary goal for any charity, and something that drives Team KSS every hour of every day . Receiving an award to celebrate our aspiration to aspire for excellence is a huge privilege and one that inspires us to achieve even greater things. I would like to offer my sincere, heartfelt thanks to all who have and continue to support us in our purpose as a charity, alongside my promise that KSS will continue to work together as one dedicated team to do our very best and be as impactful as possible for the communities we serve.
