We hope you find these questions useful. If we haven’t covered your query, please email our Events Team via

When and where is it? Sunday 21st August at Bilsington Priory Estate, Ashford, TN25 7AU.

What time does it start? Upon booking you’ll be able to select a wave time. We encourage you to arrive in good time before your allocated starting time, to check in and tack up.

How long is the route? The route is approximately eight miles

Will there be parking? Yes, there will be free parking on-site – with signs and marshals in place to guide and welcome you on arrival. We recommend that you do not leave any items inside your vehicle. Any items that are left will be left at your own risk.

Will I be able to take a look inside Bilsington Priory? Yes, the Priory and the gardens will be open for you to wander round and enjoy.

Will there be toilet facilities? Yes – these will be located in the main car park area.

Will this be similar to your event held last year at Kent Showground? The event will follow a similar format. At eight miles the route is slightly longer than the seven-mile route that we offered at Kent Showground last year, and we have introduced a canter strip (which is optional).

Do I need to own my own horse, or will a horse be provided? This event requires  participants to bring their own horses to this event. We’re unable to provide horses for riding.

Can I take part if I want to ride lead rein? We are not offering lead rein slots as part of this event and would not recommend taking on the eight mile route on lead rein.

What gaits are allowed during the ride? Gentle riding is encouraged, with walk and trot encouraged. There will be an opportunity to canter in a designated area but this will be optional. Please avoid galloping at any time.

When and how will I receive my hi-vis waistcoat(s)? This will be posted to you, ahead of the day, providing you purchase your ticket before Friday 5th August. After this date, high-vis waistcoat(s) will be available to collect on the day of the event as we cannot guarantee that you’ll receive them beforehand

What do I do if my hi-vis or a hi-vis I’ve ordered for someone else does not fit? Please bring it with you on the day to exchange for an alternative size at check-in.

I haven’t received my hi-vis waistcoat(s) - what should I do? Your order/s will have been sent directly to the address provided. If you haven’t received what you were expecting, we’re sorry to hear this; please contact us via or by calling 01634 471900.

Will there be a photographer? Yes, a photographer will be present at the event.

Will there be refreshments available? Yes, there will be a licenced bar open situated inside the Priory building and there’ll be a selection of food available to purchase too.

Are dogs welcome? Dogs are welcome to come along with you to KSS Ride but we do request that they are kept on a lead, at all times, for health and safety reasons. Dogs are also welcome to walk the course with you, again, providing that they are on a lead.

Are there age restrictions? Under 16s must be accompanied by a participating adult. However, all ages are welcome to attend the event as spectators, and to enjoy relaxing on the lawns, providing children are accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.

What happens if I hurt myself whilst taking part? We recommend that all participants have their phone on them at all times, and you will be provided with a contact number to use in the event of an emergency. Should you come to any harm whilst out on the route, and you’re not near an event marshal, please do use the emergency contact number that we’ll provide you with. Should any first aid be required, first aiders will be on site. We also strongly recommend all horse-riders having public liability insurance.

How much money do I need to raise? Our fundraising events are a vital source of income. Please use your participation as a way to ask your friends, family and colleagues for sponsorship. £150 could buy three frontline chest drain kits, used to drain blood or air from a patient's injured chest to allow the lung to work properly.

Can I use another platform to fundraise on, other than Enthuse? Enthuse is our preferred platform. It’s where you’ll purchase the tickets for this event, and as part of your registration, a fundraising page will automatically be created for you. We recommend that you use this fundraising page by sharing it with your friends, family and colleagues to gain sponsorship.

If you choose to set up an alternative fundraiser, like a JustGiving page or Facebook fundraiser, please rest assured that all monies raised will reach us; you’ll just need to ensure that you include the details of the event i.e. by including ‘I’m taking part in Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex’s event, KSS Ride’.

If I’m part of a team that’s riding together, can we fundraise collectively? Yes, absolutely, this is what we recommend. A fundraising page will automatically be created for the lead person that purchases the tickets; you can then edit the target to reflect the team’s target.

We hope you found these questions useful. If we haven’t covered your query, please email our Events Team via
