Recycle Schemes

Did you know you can raise money for our charity just by recycling your unwanted waste?

It’s true! One man’s rubbish really is another man’s treasure, and recycling schemes are the sustainable way of giving something back.

Taking part in one – or all – of our schemes means less waste to landfill and more funds to support our life-saving air ambulance service.

  • Coffee Pods
Find out where your local drop-off point is and put your used pods to good use.
  • Crisp Packets
Those empty bags are valuable – don’t bin them, bring them to a recycling point for us!
  • Clothes Banks
Don’t leave old clothes in the back of the wardrobe, help us by dropping them off at a clothing bank.

Coffee Pod Recycling

We all need our freshly-ground hit of caffeine to get us going in the morning but what do you do with your used pods?

If the answer is ‘bin them’ then stop! Certain brands of coffee pods can be recycled as part of our charity fundraising scheme.

Just drop off your Tassimo and L’OR Nespresso coffee pods at the locations below and help keep waste out of landfill while keeping us flying high for the people of Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

Thanks to our fantastic team of volunteers, we have a network of coffee pod collection boxes in convenient locations – many of them supermarkets – enabling you to drop off your used Tassimo and L’OR Nespresso pods.

Our team, affectionately known as The Podders, will then collect them and send them on to recycling company Terracycle by the crate-load.

This amazing scheme has already led to over 1.3million pods (and counting) being recycled, raising over £12,000 for the charity.

Crisp Packet Recycling

Your empty, used crisp packets might not mean much to you but they’re worth a whole lot to us!

Our crisp packet recycling scheme – instigated by AAKSS volunteer and fundraiser Adam Hunter – gives us the chance to raise funds from your rubbish.

It forms part of a recycling scheme set up by Terracycle and Walkers crisps, although all brands of crisp packet can be accepted, including the multipack outer packaging.

All you need to do is collect up empty packets at home, at work or at school, and then drop them off at a local collection point to start making a difference to us today!

At home
Simply fill an old box or bag with your used crisp packets and once you have reached a minimum weight of 8kg (roughly 1,400 empty bags) simply contact us at community@aakss.org.uk to request a free UPS label* that will be emailed to you and then can be used to send your collected packets directly to Terracycle.

At work
Get your whole workplace involved in our recycling scheme. Complete the form below to register and receive an AAKSS Recycle Pack, which includes posters that can be displayed in your workplace. Once you have collected a minimum of 8kg of empty packets, contact us at community@aakss.org.uk for a free UPS label* that will be emailed to you. It can then be used to send your collected packets directly to Terracycle.

At school
Pupils and teachers can help our air ambulance service by bringing in their empty crisp packets – just use an old box or bag to start collecting today. Register using the form below to receive an AAKSS Recycle Pack that includes posters for your school to raise awareness and get your campaign up-and-running. Once a minimum of 8kg has been collected, contact us at community@aakss.org.uk for a free UPS label* and send your packets directly to Terracycle.

Already collecting?
To request a new free UPS label, email us at community@aakss.org.uk. Remember, every time you wish send your collected packets to Terracycle, you need to request a new label. Please DO NOT re-use labels as this will mean that funds will not be accredited to the charity.
