Murray Miles completes nine mile pony ride to support us

Murray Miles, the five-year-old boy from Chelwood Gate, East Sussex who ran the equivalent of a marathon in five days in May 2020 and raised over £7,000 for us after we saved his Dad’s life – has ridden nine miles on his pony to help raise further funds for our life-saving charity.

Murray and his mum, Emily Miles took part in a charity horse riding and dog walking event which raised £2,000.

According to mum Emily: “It really was an honour to share this experience with Murray. Murray and his pony, Meg were the smallest entrants in the event and we zoomed round in less than two hours, which included a refreshment stop. We had a perfect day and it was a wonderful way to raise money for this life saving charity.”

Lynne Harris, our Executive Director of Income Generation added: “We are so grateful to Murray and Emily for continually fundraising and supporting KSS. Murray’s positivity and energy never cease to amaze us! We really appreciate the fact that people across Kent, Surrey and Sussex continue to organise and take part in socially distanced events to raise much needed funds to help us continue our life-saving work”.

We launched our Coronavirus Emergency Appeal in April 2020 to address a shortfall of £2.9m due to the cancellation of events and fundraising activity as a result of the pandemic. We have raised £1.5m so far, thanks to the generosity and dedication of our supporters. We currently face a £1.4m shortfall which we urgently need to raise in order to continue saving lives.
