Darren Hendley - Fundraiser

Darren has grown up in Kent and pursued his interest in sport, in particular running, at Mascalls Academy. Being a sportsman, Darren has regularly seen the charity land to assist patients in need.

As a founding member of the Paddock Wood Athletics Club, established in 1989, Darren is a keen runner and has previously run marathons in aid of the charity. Unsure if he was going to obtain a place in the London Marathon, Darren applied for a Brighton Marathon place (which is the weekend before London). As the Paddock Wood Athletics Club were due to be supporting the London Marathon at one of the water stations, the club were lucky enough to be offered a small number of places in the event, one of which was offered to Darren. Not wanting to miss the opportunity to compete, Darren decided to ‘do the double’ and run both marathons within a week of one another; a huge challenge!
For the Brighton Marathon, Darren achieved a time of 3:53. Darren decided to do something a little different for the second marathon and dressed up as Spiderman! Darren completed the London Marathon in another fantastic time of 4:30 and gained a lot of support around the course with high fives from the crowd!

Darren has raised in excess of £1,500 for Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex. We are so grateful to Darren, and all who support us, for helping us to continue our life-saving work.
