Shoppers in Haywards Heath raised more than £1,000 for the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance in a raffle to win a car, which will be drawn next week (Friday 31st March).

Staff and volunteers for the life-saving charity sold tickets for the Win a Mini Draw at The Orchards Shopping Centre last weekend (17th and 18th March).

A grand total of £1,121.75 was raised in ticket sales and donations for the charity, which relies almost entirely on public support to keep it flying.

A mother whose son was airlifted after he was hit by a car while walking his dog, was among the shoppers who bought a ticket.

James Cook, Head of Lotteries & Gaming, said: “We are extremely grateful to Orchards Shopping Centre for once again giving us the opportunity to raise awareness of the charity, and to the public for their fantastic support.”

Tickets for the Win a Mini Draw cost £5 each and can be purchased online at with the draw taking place on 31st March 2017, making it the perfect prize for the summer months.

The £19,000 convertible Mini Cooper, a brand new model, boasts tyre pressure monitoring, a Thatcham 1 alarm system, ISOFIX child seat system, on-board computer, DAB digital radio, Bluetooth hands free function, USB audio, reversing camera and parking distance sensors.
