Messages to our crew from recent supporters
When a life is hanging in the balance. When every second counts. It’s thanks to generous supporters like you that we can give people like Sasha a second chance at life.
After Sasha’s motorbike crash, we were there to fight for her life
I’m Craig Prentice, a KSS Paramedic, and when we arrived to treat Sasha at the roadside, she was trapped under her motorbike with severe pelvic and lower limb fractures. Every second was crucial for her survival. Thanks to the kindness of supporters like you, we were able to bring our advanced lifesaving care to the scene, fast.
We gave Sasha advanced analgesia and sedation to ease her pain, specialist drugs to try and reduce internal bleeding and a vital blood and plasma transfusion to replace the blood that she had lost. Sasha needed specialist splints to be applied to her pelvis and legs to try and ease internal bleeding and pain. These advanced treatments and critical equipment were potentially the difference between life and death for Sasha. That’s why we need your support today.
Please donate today and help us fight for every second chance.

Sasha Hall
Former KSS Patient
In an instant, my world was turned upside down. It felt like a nightmare I couldn’t wake up from.

“Motorbikes have always been part of my life since I was young”, explains Sasha. “However, in March 2022, I was involved in a car collision on a country road. Immediately after the accident, I was in shock, so I don’t remember much, but I do recall the team lifting me aboard the KSS helicopter.”
Sasha didn’t know it at the time, but her surgery at St Georges lasted nine hours. “I’m told I nearly died three times,” she says. “That’s hard to hear, and it’s still emotional to think about it. I’m a radiographer, and knowing how serious my injuries were, I realise the outcome could have been very different if KSS hadn’t been there to help save my life.”
“Without KSS, I wouldn’t have this incredible second chance at life.”
“I’m proud to be home with my family, back at work caring for my cancer patients, and I’ve completed a master’s degree. Thank you to the KSS crew that day for making that possible. And thank you to the KSS Patient and Family Aftercare Team for helping me continue my journey of recovery. I now feel like I want to share my story, so that you’ll know how your donation can help save lives.”

Sasha was entangled in her motorbike. This was going to be a complex case.

“Because Sasha’s leg was trapped in a wheel, moving her could have been very painful,” says Craig Prentice, KSS Paramedic picking up the story, “so we sedated her and manoeuvred her carefully. We needed to be gentle because sudden movements can worsen the bleeding. As Sasha had pelvic and lower limb fractures, we were worried that she was bleeding into her pelvis.”
“So we gave her specialist drugs to try and reduce internal bleeding and an emergency transfusion of blood and plasma. It’s early specialist lifesaving interventions like these that KSS brings to patients at the scene of serious medical emergencies.
“I remember Sasha asking if she was going to lose her leg. Thankfully, the major trauma surgeons at St George’s Hospital in London successfully saved it. This was only possible because of the early interventions we were able to bring to the scene in the first crucial moments, and because people like you support KSS. With your support today, we can save even more lives.”
