My name is Sam and as we celebrate Christmas, my partner Mark and I remember the medics and crew of Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex who saved my life after I suffered a cardiac arrest. This charity is very close to my heart and I hope by sharing my story, you will understand how your support truly makes a difference. I’d also like to tell you about their brilliant Christmas Draw, giving you the chance to win whilst helping them to carry on their vital work!
I was nearly 24 weeks pregnant with our son, Jack when it happened. I was getting ready for work one September morning and the next thing I remember was waking up in hospital three days later having suffered a cardiac arrest.
I was there because of the skill of the air ambulance medics who came to my aid, kept me alive and transferred me into the care of King’s College Hospital in London. Jack was born on the 29th November, and on the 12th December, I had heart surgery. While I was recovering in King’s, one of the Air Ambulance doctors who had treated me, called the ward to ask how I was. He was amazed that I was well enough to speak to him and I was able to thank him from the bottom of my heart.
I was determined to be home by Christmas and Jack and I left hospital on the 18th December just in time for us to celebrate with loved ones and spend Christmas at home. This in part was due to you and your support of this live-saving charity.
This Christmas I will cherish every moment, but I’ll be thinking of the crews who will be working on Christmas Day. These amazing heroes will be there for any of us, should we need them – as they are all year round.
Please can you do a little extra to help by entering their Christmas Draw? You could win £5,000 whilst helping this amazing charity to keep flying high, and help more people like me and Jack.
Thank you once again, from me and my family.
I wish you and your loved ones a safe and happy Christmas.
